Kissimmee: Everglades Airboat Adventure Tour

About This Experience
Marsh Landing Adventures runs smaller airboats from a dock on Neptune Road, on the edge of Lake Tohopekaliga in Kissimmee. You park, check in, collect ear protection and a life jacket for younger kids, and board a boat that carries a handful of people. That size means everyone gets a clear view and the captain can talk to your group, and kids can ask as many questions as they like.
The captain heads out across the lake and into lily pads, marsh and wet prairie toward Shingle Creek, stopping to point out alligators, nests, herons, egrets and birds of prey. Between stops you hear stories about the Native Americans and early settlers who lived in these swamps. You choose 1 hour or 1.5 hours when you book.
The Everglades in the title is marketing shorthand with a real basis. Shingle Creek feeds Lake Toho, which is part of the Kissimmee Chain of Lakes and forms the headwaters of the Everglades system. You are in the upstream part of that system in Kissimmee, not in Everglades National Park far to the south.
The catch is the sun and the length. Much of the ride is exposed, the boats are windy and loud even with ear protection, and 90 minutes is a long time for a toddler to sit still. Families with preschoolers usually do better on the 1-hour option, early in the day. If your children need to move around, a park-based ride with a playground afterwards may suit you better.

I forgot my sun screen and our guide kindly let me use their supply. They even gave us a cold water during the trip. This was my first experience like this and being from the city I’m not well experienced on exactly what to bring even though I should’ve known better in this case. When traveling most businesses know this and use it as an opportunity to squeeze money out of you. Not only was the trip pleasant and the guides were friendly and informative, but they also made you feel welcomed the way a friend would. I believe some kindness and hospitality without asking for anything in return goes a long way nowadays because it’s so rare.

Absolutely excellent was a bit worried at first because there was an accident on the road which created tail back traffic but the company waited for us as we were 5 minutes late arriving, so service cannot be faulted. The guide Taylor was excellent very knowledgeable and we saw the gators and also baby one's. The environment was superb and the boat was really good never been on an air boat before. Would recommend this to anyone next best thing as opposed to travelling to the Everglades which is quite a distance from Orlando. Great value for money.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can a 3-year-old do this airboat tour?
Yes. Marsh Landing has no age limit and carries life jackets in all sizes, which kids 6 and under must wear. Bring your own snug ear muffs for a small child and choose the 1-hour ride.
Is this really the Everglades?
It is the headwaters of the Everglades system. Shingle Creek flows into Lake Toho, part of the Kissimmee Chain of Lakes that drains south toward Lake Okeechobee and the Everglades. Everglades National Park itself is about four hours away.
1 hour or 1.5 hours with kids?
For preschoolers, 1 hour is usually enough. School-age kids who love animals often enjoy the extra half hour because the captain has more time to search for nests and birds.
Will we get wet?
You may get some spray and wind, and the tours run in light rain. Soaked is unusual, but a spare shirt for small kids is sensible.
Can we cancel if plans change?
The booking page offers cancellation up to 24 hours ahead, but the operator's own note says tickets are non-refundable. Read the policy shown at checkout before you pay.
