Orlando: Airboat Ride Tour with Hotel Pickup

4.6 (53 verified reviews)

About This Experience

A Gray Line driver-guide collects you from a meeting point in the Orlando, Kissimmee or Disney area and drives you out to an airboat park and fish camp in the Kissimmee lakes. Reviewers describe the drive as a tour in itself, with the guide talking about Florida history on the way, though some drivers are chattier than others.

At the park you board an open airboat for a 30-minute ride through the marshes, looking for alligators, bald eagles, otters, herons and egrets. You also get entry to the airboat park itself, so there is a little time to walk around before the van heads back. The listing promises you are back in Orlando by lunchtime.

The listing talks about the Central Florida Everglades. The lakes south of Orlando form the headwaters of the Everglades system, draining down the Kissimmee River to Lake Okeechobee and on to the Everglades. This is that upstream country, not Everglades National Park, which is roughly four hours' drive south.

It is the simplest way to fit an airboat into a morning without a car, but around 5 hours for a 30-minute ride is a lot of van time for small kids. The listing does not name the airboat park, so you will not know in advance exactly which dock you visit. Ask about car seats before booking, and choose a longer, self-drive ride if wildlife is the main event.

What Travelers Say

Rated 4.6/5 by 53 verified GetYourGuide travelers.

We were picked up at our hotel by a fantastic live guide who told us American history from Florida the entire drive to Kissimmee and was super nice. On the way home, he dropped us off where we wanted within the given area, so it was absolutely perfect! We saw several alligators and lots of birds, so it was absolutely amazing, and our live guide on the boat also taught us a lot about the wildlife in swamp areas ☺️ An absolutely fantastic trip that is definitely recommended! 🤩

Frequently Asked Questions

Which airboat company do we ride with?

The listing does not say; it describes a leading fish camp and airboat park in the Central Florida lakes. Photos show more than one operator, so treat the dock as a surprise.

How far ahead do we need to book?

At least 2 days before your chosen date. Within that window the tour cannot be booked, so plan early if your trip is short.

Is it worth it with a toddler?

It depends on how your toddler handles about 5 hours with a lot of van time for a 30-minute ride. If you have a car, a self-drive ride in Kissimmee is quicker. Without a car, this keeps logistics simple.

Is this the Everglades?

It is the Everglades headwaters. The lakes south of Orlando drain via the Kissimmee River and Lake Okeechobee into the Everglades. Everglades National Park is about four hours further south.
